Pedro J. Mercado
(August 3, 1950 - June 9, 2013)

Pedro J. Mercado of Washingtonville, NY died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 62. Mr. Mercado was employed for 31 years with Presidential Life Insurance in Nyack, NY as a printer. Pedro was born August 3, 1950 in Manhattan, NY to Efraim and Jovita Olivo Mercado. He was educated in Nanuet, NY and graduated from Nanuet HS in 1968 where he learned to be a printer. On February 9, 1990 he married Karen M. Cartmel at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Spring Valley, NY. Pedro lived in Washingtonville for the past 8 years. Before that he lived in Spring Valley from 1984 to 2004 and grew up in Nanuet. Locally, Pedro was a member of the Rockland Rodders Car Organization. He entered his motorcycle Goldwing and his many vehicles into car shows. He had a great passion for motorcycle riding. He will be remembered for the love he had for everyone he knew. He was very giving and donated to many organizations the Fire Department, less fortunate families, animal hospitals, veteran and the cancer society. He is survived by his wife, Karen of Washingtonville; nieces, Adrienne (Mercado) Cirigliano, Sabrina Mercado and Shannon Mercado Pollack; nephews, Paul and Dan Mercado; great nephews, Andrew Pollack Jr. and Santino Cirigliano and great niece, Alexis Joy Pollack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Anthony R.C. Church Nanuet. Visiting is Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
